Peter had a lifelong love for the color red—it adorned his front door, his car, his favorite hat, and the charming old farmyard doors of the Dales, which he so adored. He was also an avid admirer of Collie dogs, having three of his own and often visiting farms to watch these hardworking dogs in action. Peter also had a deep affection for snowy scenes and woodland landscapes. Known for his beautiful winter portrayals, he often depicted the open moorland as well as wooded paths blanketed in snow.
